Steadfast in the Storm: Holding Fast to Truth and Protection

Responding with Faith and Vigilance

On June 1, 2025, a peaceful rally in Boulder, Colorado, supporting Israeli hostages, was violently disrupted. Mohamed Sabry Soliman, an Egyptian national residing illegally in the U.S., allegedly attacked attendees with Molotov cocktails and a makeshift flamethrower, injuring 12 people, including a Holocaust survivor. Soliman had allegedly planned the attack for over a year, driven by antisemitic motives.

Over in Seattle, a Christian prayer rally was disrupted by someone with a knife. And across the world in Kyrgyzstan, a pastor was arrested and reportedly tortured — all because he preached about Jesus.

It’s easy to hear stories like these and feel a mix of anger, sadness, and even fear. You might wonder: What could I even do about all this?

But here’s the good news: none of this catches God by surprise. And He hasn’t left us defenseless.

Anchored in Unchanging Truth

In times of turmoil, it’s essential to remember that God’s truth remains constant. Scripture reminds us:

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1

Even as societal structures waver, our faith provides a firm foundation.

Responding with Faith and Vigilance

As believers, we’re called to respond to adversity with both faith and action. While we trust in God’s sovereignty, we also advocate for justice and protection for the vulnerable. It’s a balance of spiritual steadfastness and practical engagement.

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

Conclusion

In the face of violence and uncertainty, let’s anchor ourselves in God’s unchanging truth. By doing so, we can navigate the storms of life with courage and hope, shining His light in a world that desperately needs it.
